  • Overview

    Cloud Computing represents a fundamental change in IT architecture and economics. The Enterprise Cloud is a new paradigm in which all IT components operate as loosely coupled, stateless, highly configurable, fully automated services, able to re-configure themselves as operating circumstances require. This includes functions previously provided by physical devices, such as routers and SANs. Public cloud providers such as Amazon and Microsoft add new services and capabilities almost every day.

    Cloud Computing can dramatically increase IT’s agility and responsiveness to customer needs, while the “pay only for what you use” pricing model offers significant cost savings potential. But migrating or re-engineering complex legacy systems and processes to a cloud platform can be quite challenging and may not yield the expected economic benefit if not designed properly.

    This course is an introduction to Cloud Computing for experienced enterprise IT professionals. The class begins with an overview of the major Cloud service models. It next explores the core Cloud architectural concepts common to the major leading-edge platforms and providers. Differences amongst the major cloud platforms are analyzed, while taking a deeper look at a few of the leading platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google and OpenStack. Cloud design and migration are discussed, along with the relevant pricing models and factors. Finally, the class considers important issues such as Cloud Security, Risk Management, Governance and Compliance.

  • Who Should Take This Course

    AUDIENCE

    This is a course for IT architects, system administrators, network administrators, database administrators, software engineers, security administrators, technical support staff, and others who are responsible for elements of an existing IT infrastructure.

    PRE-REQUISITES

    At least one year of enterprise IT experience in system, network, database and/or security administration, software development, or systems architecture.

    UMBC students and alumni, as well as students who have previously taken a public training course with UMBC Training Centers are eligible for a 10% discount, capped at $250. Please provide a copy of your UMBC student ID or an unofficial transcript or the name of the UMBC Training Centers course you have completed. Online courses are excluded from this offer.

    What is the cancellation and refund policy?

    Student will receive a refund of paid registration fees only if UMBC Training Centers receives a notice of cancellation at least 10 business days prior to the class start date for classes or the exam date for exams.
