Important Program Status Update

Thank you for your interest in the UMBC Training Centers Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. Our program is currently on Inactive Status. We hope to resume the program in 2024. Please check our website in January 2024 for further updates.


UMBC Training Centers offers one of the area’s most highly regarded, accredited programs in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Our program offers three separate concentrations of study – General Abdomen-Extended/OB-GYN), Cardiac, and Vascular. The program is a full-time (day), non-degree program that takes 13.5 months to complete. Our goal is to prepare the student to be a competent entry-level sonographer in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for their assigned concentration, of the following concentration(s) we offer: Abdominal sonography – Extended and Obstetrics and Gynecology sonography (our “General” track), Adult Cardiac sonography, or Vascular sonography. Upon successful completion of the program students receive a Certificate and will be eligible to sit for their National Registry Exams in Sonography.

Sonographers are highly skilled medical professionals who work directly with patients to perform non-invasive imaging tests and procedures, providing physicians with diagnostic information about various systems of the body. Whether detecting a blood clot, evidence of cancer, signs of a cardiovascular disease, or monitoring an infant in the womb, sonographers are key members of a medical team. UMBC Training Centers offers one of the area’s most highly regarded, accredited programs in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The program is a full-time (day), accelerated, non-degree program that takes 13.5 months to complete. The program is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS). We are well above average for ARDMS credentialing! Our class of 2021 boasts a 93% student retention rate, a 98% job placement rate and an 95% credentialing success rate.

As a CAAHEP-accredited school, our graduates are eligible to sit for the national registry exams.
