how do i apply?

Our program is a 13.5 month, full-time, day, Monday through Friday, certificate program. Application deadline each year is January 30th.

In order to apply, you must have completed, or be in the progress of completing, 60 college credits including the following prerequisites:

  • College Algebra (3 credits)
  • Physics (3 credits)
  • Biology (3 credits)
  • Anatomy & Physiology I (4 credits)
  • Anatomy & Physiology II (4 credits)
  • English Composition I (3 credits)
  • English Composition II (3 credits)
  • Psychology (3 credits)
  • Speech (3 credits)
  • Medical Terminology  (credit or non-credit)
  • Medical Ethics & Law (credit or non-credit)

Applicants need to have earned a ‘C’ or better in the above college-level courses and may submit college transcripts for feedback on which elements have been met and which ones still need to be completed. You may either fax your documents or scan and email them to the Director of Sonography Admissions via fax (443-543-5410) or email (jmcstay@umbctraining.com).

In addition, applicants need to attend an information session and earn 40 volunteer hours in a patient setting (in lieu of medical experience). Shadowing a sonographer for a minimum of 6 hours is recommended.
