AI-Enabled Cyber Defense Professional

Overview

The AI-Enhanced Cyber Defense Professional program is an integrated training program designed to equip cybersecurity practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed to defend modern digital environments using artificial intelligence. The courses comprising this program equip students with foundational AI concepts and with applied cybersecurity skills, preparing learners to leverage AI for threat detection and secure AI-driven systems against emerging risks.

This program includes the following courses:

Fundamentals of Modern AI Security & Privacy in AI – Fundamentals of Modern AI introduces essential AI concepts, generative AI, LLMs, copilots, agentic AI, cloud tools, responsible AI practices, and real-world applications. Security & Privacy in AI covers AI risk, NIST AI RMF, privacy considerations, LLM vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies for secure AI implementation. The evening schedule for this program structures this training in a series of 4-hour interactive workshops over the course of one month.

AI-Enhanced Network and Packet Analysis – This cyber-intensive course will familiarize students with network fundamentals, packet behavior, and defensive traffic analysis.

CompTIA SecurityX exam preparation – An advanced, hands-on cybersecurity course focused on enterprise security architecture, incident response, automation, cloud/on-prem security, cryptography, and threat analysis. Supports exam preparation and real-world defense skills.

Who Should Take This Course

Prerequisites

Students should have earned the CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ certifications or have equivalent knowledge and experience working in IT, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.

Funding Options

WIOA Funding

For unemployed or underemployed Marylanders, many of our programs have been approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) for funding through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding. This entitles individuals to funding to obtain new skills and certifications to prepare them for a new career. This program is administered through One Stop Career Centers located throughout the state.
