Financial Assistance Options
Maryland Business Works Program
If you are a fulltime employee of a for-profit or non-profit private sector business headquartered in (or with at least one permanent physical location in) Maryland, your employer may be eligible to participate in the Maryland Business Works program to fund your professional development training. Reach out to an admissions counselor or Maryland.gov for more information.
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Funding
Many of our programs have been approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) to be eligible for WIOA funding.
Smart Option Student Loans
UMBC Training Centers students can apply for a Smart Option Student Loan with SallieMae Financial Corporation. These are not financial aid loans provided by the federal or state government but are private loans underwritten and approved by Sallie Mae based on the credit worthiness of the student and/or co-signer.
Once approved by Sallie Mae, students may be certified by UMBC Training Centers for loan amounts up to twice the cost of tuition for full time day programs (18+ hrs per week) and up to $1,500 total for all other programs. Excess funds are to be used on supplies and materials needed to successfully complete the program. UMBC Training Centers will not certify and disburse a loan until the program is confirmed to run and a signed registration form is on file.
Additional information and the loan application can be found on the Sallie Mae Career Loan website.
UMBC Training Centers’ Sallie Mae school code is 00210598.
