Dr. Robert Holder
Data Science Instructor
Dr. Robert Holder has over twenty years of experience in artificial intelligence research and application. As a data scientist, he has provided machine learning solutions for a variety of clients through work with the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and several startups. As an algorithmic engineer, he has adapted machine learning algorithms to train and infer over encrypted data using techniques such as homomorphic encryption (HE) and secure multiparty computation (SMPC).
Given both the opportunities and challenges brought by the use of technology in society, Robert is an advocate of technical and scientific literacy. He believes that such education is crucial to responsible use of technology’s increasing capabilities and scope. Outside of work, Dr. Holder volunteers for multiple non-profit organizations that support student mentorship and education.
Robert holds a B.S. and M.S. in computer science from Tulane University, and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
