The CompTIA Network+ certification, like most CompTIA certifications, needs to be renewed every three years. The renewal process is fairly straightforward but we definitely suggest being proactive about it to ensure your certification does not lapse.

Where Do You Create Your CompTIA Account?

Before you can even begin to submit your CompTIA Network+ renewal activities, you need to create your account. It is best to create your account as soon as you earn your CompTIA certification and you can set up your CompTIA account here. This is where you will:

  • Pay your annual fees
  • Submit renewal activities
  • View all of your active and inactive CompTIA certifications

What Are The CompTIA Network+ Approved Continuing Education Activities?

As a reminder, you need to earn and submit a total of 30 continuing education units (CEUs) during each 3-year renewal period in order to keep your Network+ certification active. Below are several activities you can do to meet that requirement. Each activity earns a different number of CEUs but you can find a full list of the CEUs for these activities on our post “What Is CompTIA Network+?

  • Earn the CySA+ Certification
  • Earn the PenTest+ Certification
  • Earn the CASP+ Certification
  • Earn a Non-CompTIA Certification (CEHCISSPCCNA Routing and SwitchingCCNA Security, a full list can be found here)
  • Pass a newer version of the CompTIA Network+ exam

  • Participate as a subject matter expert in a corresponding CompTIA Exam Development Workshop
  • Publish an article or whitepaper where at least 50% of the content relates back to the Network+ exam objectives.

  • Publish a book where at least 50% of the content relates back to the Network+ exam objectives.
  • Work experience where at least 50% of the work you are performing relates back to the Network+ exam objectives.

How Much Is The CompTIA Network+ Renewal Fee?

In addition to earning the 30 CEUs, you also need to pay an annual Continuing Education Renewal fee to keep your CompTIA Network+ certification up to date. Currently, the renewal fee is $50/year making the 3-year costs for renewing your certification a total of $150. CompTIA provides the latest renewal fee information here.
